How effective is Viberzi in controlling IBS-D?

In two randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials evaluating the efficacy of Viberzi, there were greater response rates in the treatment group compared to placebo. Study 1 evaluated the effect of Viberzi in 1281 patients with symptoms of IBS-D.  After 26 weeks the response rates were 29% for the Viberzi 100 mg twice daily group, 23% for the Viberzi 75 mg twice daily group, and 17% for the placebo group.

Another study evaluated 1145 patients with IBS-D. After t26 weeks that response rates were 33% for the Viberzi 100 mg twice daily group, 30% for the Viberzi 75 mg twice group, and 20% for the control group.

What is the dosage of Viberzi?

Viberzi is available as 75 mg tablets and 100 mg tablets.

The recommended dose of Viberzi is one tablet (75 or 100 mg) by mouth twice daily with food. Viberzi 75 mg by mouth twice daily with food is recommended for people who do not have a gallbladder; are unable to tolerate Viberzi 100 mg; are receiving drugs that block certain enzymes (OATP1B1 enzymes) used for drug breakdown, or have a mild-to-moderate hepatic impairment. If a dose is missed, take the next dose at the regular time and do not take 2 doses at the same time to make up for a missed dose.

Viberzi tablets are stored at room temperature between 68°F to 77°F.
